Ashik and Devananda – A Tale of Strength, Support, and FOP Care

In different corners of South India, two children—Ashik from Chennai and Devananda from Kerala—are walking a brave path shaped by Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). Their journeys are different, but what binds them is the care, coordination, and unwavering support they’ve received from their families and FOP Trust India.

Ashik’s Journey: Finding Relief in Time

When young Ashik experienced a sudden flare-up in his elbow, the pain and fear that followed were intense. His mother quickly reached out to FOP Trust India. Within hours, the Trust arranged an online consultation with Dr. Vrisha Madhuri, one of the leading experts in FOP care. She immediately prescribed medication and provided clear guidance to manage the flare-up.

Ashik’s family, facing financial difficulty, worried about consultation charges. Once again, FOP Trust stepped in—covering the hospital fee so that Ashik’s treatment could continue without interruption. Just days later, Ashik was doing better. With continued medication and a follow-up consultation scheduled, his recovery remained on track.

Devananda’s Ongoing Strength

Meanwhile, in Kerala, young Devananda also faced another FOP flare-up. Like Ashik, she contacted the FOP Trust and consulted Dr. Vrisha. Timely medication helped control the flare-up, and her condition quickly stabilized.

By the following week, both Ashik and Devananda attended a virtual follow-up session. They received further guidance, adjusted treatment plans, and were advised to continue regular monitoring. For both families, the reassurance and medical attention came not just from doctors, but from a support system determined to walk beside them.

A Shared Message of Hope

These stories show that early action, informed care, and emotional backing can change the outcome of even the most complex diseases. With the FOP Trust’s commitment and a doctor who truly understands the nuances of this condition, children like Ashik and Devananda can keep moving forward—with courage, care, and confidence.
