The first week of August 2025 brought a mix of patient updates, flare-up management, and new awareness opportunities for the FOP Trust India team.
Arzan’s father reported that his son is improving on the prescribed medication from Dr. Vrisha Madhuri, though the swelling has reduced only slightly. Devananda, on the other hand, is doing well and has even returned to school after following Dr. Madhuri’s advice.
The team also followed up on potential new patient referrals from orthopedic doctors met during July’s Ortho Conference in Bengaluru. Dr. Abishek was contacted regarding two possible cases, while Dr. Raj Singh from Haryana was requested to share details of patients so they could be added to the FOP database and offered support.
On August 5, Durga Bavani from Andhra Pradesh experienced a new flare-up. Dr. Madhuri prescribed immediate medication and scheduled a review after one week. That same day, a request from Trist’s father for home-based educational support was forwarded to the Trust for consideration.
By August 7, Durga Bavani was responding well to treatment. The team also arranged follow-up appointments for Umme from Bangladesh and Mayeshree from Manipur with Dr. Madhuri through Amara Hospital.
The week closed with an important awareness milestone: the Principal of the College of Nursing at CMC Chittoor agreed to host an FOP awareness session on August 26, 2025. This event will help train future healthcare professionals to recognize and support those living with FOP.
Through patient monitoring, proactive flare-up care, and expanding outreach, FOP Trust India continues to ensure timely support and build stronger connections for the FOP community.
