On June 16, a visit was made to Amara Hospital to meet with Dr. Vrisha, who had just returned from leave. Updates were shared about recent home visits—highlighting Pranav’s successful post-surgery recovery and the mobility challenges faced by Kanish at home and in school. Details of the FOP awareness sessions conducted over the past two weeks were also shared.
Appointments for Arzaan and Geetika were scheduled, and both families were informed. Encouragingly, doctors at Apollo Hospital agreed to refer FOP patients who consent to join the FOP Trust family group. A contact for a new patient was shared that day, and a follow-up call confirmed the patient is ready to send medical reports.
On June 18, information came from Australia about a child with FOP who needed support. However, the child was already in the Trust’s database and had previously received consultation through coordination with Dr. Vrisha.
June 19 included a home visit to Mr. Sivaji in Kummarapalli, near Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh. He had been suspected of having FOP and was admitted to NIMHANS, Bengaluru in 2024. Since then, he had not received a follow-up appointment and was awaiting blood results. Due to financial limitations, he was unable to pursue further investigations as advised by the genetic department.
Referred to FOP Trust by Apollo Hospital, he expressed readiness to travel to Amara Hospital on the upcoming Monday. FOP Trust will arrange a consultation for him with Dr. Vrisha to ensure he receives proper medical guidance and care.
These updates reflect the ongoing commitment to ensure every patient—no matter how remote—is heard, supported, and guided toward proper care.
