At just 10 years old, Sanskriti Gupta from Uttar Pradesh is showing remarkable strength as she learns to live with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). Her journey reflects the resilience of many children and families navigating the daily challenges of this rare condition.
A New Flare-Up
On September 8, 2025, Sanskriti developed a painful swelling in her right thigh. Just a month earlier, she had already faced another swelling near her hip. For her family, each flare-up brings worry, but they continue to stay strong thanks to medical guidance and community support.
During her online consultation at Amara Hospital, Dr. Vrisha Madhuri not only prescribed medication but also emphasized practical steps to protect Sanskriti’s health. She was advised to use a spirometer daily to strengthen her lungs, wear a helmet to prevent head injuries, and even practice singing to support her respiratory health.
The Role of Family and Community
Her mother, determined to encourage Sanskriti, took these instructions to heart. With every small step—whether practicing breathing or ensuring safe routines—her family helps transform fear into action. Their gratitude toward the Trust and Dr. Madhuri reflects the importance of having a reliable support system.
A Message of Hope
Sanskriti’s story is not just about managing flare-ups; it’s about finding ways to live fully despite them. She continues her daily life, studies, and now adds singing exercises to her routine. Her courage reminds us that FOP may shape her journey, but it does not define her spirit.
Through stories like Sanskriti’s, the community learns that with the right care and protocols, children with FOP can face challenges with confidence, dignity, and hope.
